After an extensive national search, The Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) is pleased to introduce Adam Case as the organization’s next Executive Director. The AUSL Board of Directors is confident that Adam is uniquely qualified to lead AUSL into an invigorating and innovative new chapter, continuing its legacy of fostering equitable educational experiences for students in Chicago and across the country.

“Over the last 20 years, Adam has built a reputation as a strategic and innovative leader in both the public and private sectors,” said Cardelle Spangler, AUSL Board Chair. “He is a passionate advocate for education who believes deeply in AUSL’s mission and the impact we have across the country. We believe his experience makes him uniquely positioned to lead our Residency program and Advisory Services into a new era of impact for students.”

Most recently, Adam served as the Chief Growth Officer at Right at School, a national provider of extended day learning programs for school districts. During his tenure, Adam provided strategic and day-to-day leadership, guiding a decade of growth from serving a small number of schools in the Chicagoland area to over 40,000 students across the country. During Adam’s tenure, Right At School was recognized repeatedly for its growth and impact, including as a seven-time honoree on the Inc. 5000 list and a six-time honoree on the Chicago Crain’s Fast 50 list.

Prior to Right at School, Adam served in senior roles in both federal and local government. He was Chief of Staff of the Chicago Public Schools and also served in President Obama’s administration as a Senior Advisor in the Office of Management and Budget. Adam began his career in Chicago’s local government, including at the Mayor’s Office and the Chicago Transit Authority.

“I have been a strong supporter of AUSL since I first worked with the organization over a decade ago,” Adam said. “I am honored to be joining an organization committed to educational equity and making a difference in the lives of students across the country.”

The AUSL Board of Directors extends its deep appreciation to Dr. Donald Feinstein for his 23 years of dedicated service. Alongside Martin Koldyke and Arne Duncan, Dr. Feinstein helped pioneer a groundbreaking model for teacher preparation in Chicago’s under-resourced schools, graduating 1444 new teachers in the time since. The AUSL Board of Directors is confident that, under Adam’s leadership, AUSL’s legacy and impact in serving our communities will continue to flourish.
