NTA Principal Isaac Castelaz Honored as Game Changer at CPS Admin Summit
Principal of National Teachers Academy Isaac Castelaz was recognized at the Chicago Public Schools Administrator Summit as a Game Changer. Administrators got to hear from Mayor Lori Lightfoot, CPS CEO Janice Jackson, and students on the impacts of equity and inequity. All saw performances from school music and dancing groups.
Recent Grads from the Network Shop for College at Target Thanks to Lefkofsky Family Foundation
The Lefkofksy Family Foundation sponsored a trip to Target for recently graduated AUSL students for its third year as a Success Bound Initiative. Students from Orr, Solorio, Phillips, and Collins each got 300 dollars to spend on college essentials. They were joined by Liz Lefkofsky, Foundation Co-Founder and AUSL Board member, who came to meet students and help them shop. The students were ecstatic to shop at the two-story Target for dorm room essentials and school supplies to help them transition to college...
Soon-to-be CTR Graduates Participate in Interview Day with the AUSL Network
The incredibly talented 2019 soon-to-be graduates of the Chicago Teacher Residency participated in a network-wide AUSL Interview Day, where they met with principals and teacher leaders to talk about taking the next steps in their careers as teachers of record within the AUSL network. We are so proud of their achievements and look forward to their continued development as teachers and teacher leaders in AUSL network schools!
Solorio Students Attend Boeing STEM Signing Day at City Hall
Thirteen seniors from Solorio Academy High School joined high school seniors from around Chicago to participate in Boeing's STEM Signing Day, an event for high school seniors to celebrate their commitment to universities for STEM-track degrees. Solorio students were joined by AUSL Board Member John Blazey, Vice President of Global Corporate Citizenship, The Boeing Company. The event took place at City Hall, where students were able to take pride in their achievements and look forward to bright paths in STEM.
Arne Duncan and Jayla Rufus Host Roundtable on Gun Violence at Collins Academy High School
Collins Academy High School students sat down with former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as part of a Chicago CRED initiative to prevent gun violence in Chicago. Together they discussed their experiences with gun violence and their hopes for solutions. AUSL is proud to partner with organizations like Chicago CRED, who are doing important work in our school communities!
Orr Academy High School Students Participate in Women in STEM Event at the Field Museum

CAHS Celebrates Middle-Eastern North African Culture

Students experienced Merwa's spoken word and 1001 Arabian Nights along with celebratory dancing and music. The tradition will forever be etched into Chicago Academy High School culture!
Future Founders Explore Computer Science at Solorio

Future Founders, an organization specializing in immersion-experience for youths, spent 10 weeks at Solorio Academy High School teaching the "Exploring Computer Science" students about entrepreneurship. Students completed the experience with a "Solorio Shark Tank" pitch for apps they designed themselves!
Solorio Students win competitive IST Coalition STEM Challenge
