Never miss a story!

The Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) held its annual fundraiser to celebrate its twentieth anniversary on November 3rd at the Four Seasons Hotel, Chicago, IL. In a return to an in-person program, over three hundred sponsors, supporters, and friends of AUSL were in attendance.  Guests were asked to provide proof of vaccination or a negative covid test.

WGN-TV’s Ana Belaval hosted the evening. To celebrate its twentieth anniversary, AUSL honored philanthropists Mike and Robin Zafirovski and Greg Case, CEO of Aon, for their commitment to bringing equity to education.

The festive evening featured a jazz band from Solorio Academy students and alumni, inspirational videos highlighting the AUSL’s legacy, and Chicago Teacher Residency (CTR) mentors and residents’ significant and ongoing work. A highlight of the evening was the awarding of the Martin J. Koldyke Educator Leadership Award. Awardees were selected due to their strong leadership in advancing the education of students in under-resourced environments.

Revenue raised from the event will fund incremental supports for AUSL’s Chicago Teacher Residency, which provides educator training and professional development for teachers in public schools on Chicago’s south and west sides.
